`Home`:2

Stacey stomped up the stairs. "You see, Bridget, my brother is a pretty cool kid. I think you'll like him. He can be rough sometimes but he's as gentle as any other guy you would ever meet." Bridget was trying to imitate Stacey's walking like a child. "And if you ask him a serious question he'll play it off with a joke. Always. So, don't...Bridget?" Stacey turned around when she didn't hear Bridget's footsteps.
"I'm sorry. But can I ask you something, Stacey?" Bridget stared at her bare white toenails.
"Of course, sweetie. What is it?" She took a few steps towards Bridget.
Bridget swallowed hard. "Do I know your brother? At all?"
One question Stacey thought she would never ask. But she did. And she had to answer. "No, Bridget. You don't. I'm sorry. We aren't sure about any of those things." She answered. "But...let's go. My brother is waiting for you." Bridget sadly smiled and resumed following Stacey up the stairs.
Room 278A.
They stood patiently at the door while Stacey searched her purse for her spare key.
"Don't you think we should knock?" Bridget asked, forming a peaceful fist to knock on the door. Stacey pulled out her ring of keys. The keys jingled in her grasp but the door started to pull open.
"Uhm, hi?" Kelsey, Nate's girlfriend, answered the door.
She stuffed the ring of twelve keys back into her purse. "Hi!" She beamed.
Kelsey looked at her purse then up to Stacey's smiling face. "Who are you?"
"Right! Right! We've never met! I'm Stacey, Nate's sister." She left her hand out for Kelsey to shake, which she did.
Bridget was left out of the conversation, as usual.
Kelsey widened the door so they could come in. That's when she saw Bridget. "Wait, who are you?"
Stacey pulled Bridget to her side. "This is Bridget, Nate's new roommate." Bridget glanced around the empty room.
Kelsey looked towards the kitchen. "Oh. He didn't tell me about a new roommate."
"Well, it was kind of-" Stacey was cut off.
Kelsey slammed the door.

Nate heard the noise from the bathroom. "What the hell." He zipped up his pants, glancing in the mirror to fix his hair.
"Kels?" He called, unbuttoning his shirt on his way to the living room.
Stacey wrapped her arms around her brother. "Nate! I missed you, oh, so much!" She cried. Nate was shocked to see his sister but not that much. "Stace!" He feigned excitement.
Stacey pulled away and kissed his cheek. "Nate, sorry about Kelsey. She kiind of got the wrong idea...again."
Nate looked around the empty space. "So, it is a girl, isn't it?" He asked, groaning at the same time.

Stacey turned around, thinking Bridget would be behind her but she wasn't.
Worry built up only in Nate's mind.
"She's in here somewhere." She stated. Clearly, she wasn't worried. "Anyway, her name is Bridget Holmes. Her whole generation of family and friends claim she never existed. Even her boyfriend said the same. It's just...she can't know that." She paused and looked around the room, making sure she wasn't around.
Nate sat on the arm of the sofa. "Keep going."
Stacey sighed. "She's suffering from amnesia. She asks all type of questions that you might not have an answer to. Either think about it and give her a well-educated answer or just lie. I reccomend the first option though." She paused. "One of the other suspects in the accident is in acoma. He may be waking up in a few months or years. The doctors said that he will for sure. He won't die in his sleep."
Sadness filled Nate. How could something so bad happen to such an innocent girl. "How old is she?" He asked.
"Birth certificate says she's 17. Just two years younger than you."

Bridget carried the suitcase around the apartment with her. A broad smile on her face. She was happy to be in such a new home that new thoughts filled her head. Positive ones.
"Bridget?" Stacey's voice rang out.
With that, she hurried off to find her. Nate sat with his back facing her on the arm of the sofa.
Stacey took the suitcase from her hands and brought her around the couch so Nate and Bridget could meet face to face.
Nate didn't look up from his daze.
Then she stood in front of him and his eyes widened.
What a beautiful being.
"Nate, this is Bridget. Bridget, this is my only brother, Nathaniel. But everyone calls him Nate." She smiled at her younger brother. Nate kept his eyes on Bridget.
All she could do was smile and wave as shy as she was. "Hello." She greeted.
Nate was completely speecheless.
She was stunning...
For a patient.
